Prime Minister Modi’s Visit to Kuwait, 21-22nd December, 2024

  By Dr. S. Chakraborty On December 21 st , Prime Minister of India, Mr. N. Modi, visited Kuwait in a two-day state visit. Because of a number of reasons, the visit turned not only successful but also historic. India has a strong trade, energy partnership and cultural relation with Kuwait. The country is one of the long standing and significant energy partner of India. Presence of a huge Indian diaspora in Kuwait is another cause which helped to build strong connection between the two nations.   PM Modi’s visit strengthened the partnership between the two countries. Mr. Modi was the first Indian Prime Minister in the last four decades, who visited Kuwait. The 1971 war and the role of ‘Just an Ally’

Chakraborty   On 16 th December, 2024, on the eve of celebrating the Victory Day or ‘Vijay Diwas’, Prime Minister Modi, took on social media and paid tribute to the sacrifices of Indian armed forces during the 1971 India- Pakistan war, which consequently liberated the former East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. In reply, one of the Bangladeshi ministers wrote in social media that, India was ‘just any ally, and nothing more’. In this context, it became necessary to recall the role of ‘Just an ally’ in the liberation of East Pakistan and birth of Bangladesh. Inaugural India-Philippines Maritime Dialogue, Manila

  The First India-Philippines Maritime Dialogue was held on 13 th December 2024 in Manila, Philippines. The event coincided with celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Philippines. During the dialogue, both the sides exchanged perspectives on prevailing maritime challenges and they also discussed ways to enhance maritime cooperation in furthering a conducive environment for mutual growth and global well-being. They put emphasis on adherence to a rules-based order, especially the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and they also took initiatives to explored cooperation in the maritime domain to uphold the same. Besides that, to enhance bilateral engagement, they ‘deliberated on avenues to collaborate at various international and regional fora for shared objectives.
