India-UK Trade Meeting

The Union Minister of Commerce and industry, Mr. Goyal and Rt. Honorable Peter Kyle, UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade held a bilateral meeting in Mumbai to chart a renewed course for the Indo-UK trade and towards operationalizing the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). During the meeting both the Ministers agreed to reposition the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCo) to oversee its implementation and delivery.

India and UK both are ambitious to double bilateral trade by 2030. Press Information Bureau (PIB) reported that ‘Emphasizing the transformative scope of CETA, the Ministers discussed ways to maximize its benefits through regulatory cooperation, addressing non-tariff barriers and promoting supply chain integration.’

A series of sectoral meetings, between leading voices from Indian and UK industry, were held across priority areas like, Advanced Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, Food and Drink, Science, Technology and Innovation, Construction, Infrastructure and Clean Energy and Financial, Professional and Business Services.
