With release of hostages by Hamas and release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel, apparently, the two-year long Israel-Hamas war ended.

The war was consequence of a horrific terror attack on Israel by Hamas. On 7th October, 2023, Hamas launched terror attack on Israel. In response, Israel launched a full-scale war on Hamas governed Gaza.

In the beginning, the whole world supported Israel and condemned brutal Hamas attack on Israel.

After some initial fight, Hamas became helpless in front of Israeli attack and the war turned one sided.

Continuous bombing on Gaza devastated the city, killed more than sixty thousand people; thousands were wounded and forced to live their home.

In the last few months, global concerns for Gaza, as Israel was continuing bombing on Gaza, was increasing. International community repeatedly requested Israel to stop the war. However, Israel did not listen to anyone. US strongly supports Israel during those times. The US six times vetoed Gaza ceasefire proposal in the Security Council of the UN.

The 80-year celebration of establishment of UN provided an opportunity to the international community to pick up the issue in the global platform in its High-Level debate. Repeated veto in the Security Council compelled states to move towards the General Assembly. In September, 2025, the General Assembly adopted two state solution resolution with high majority vote.

Moreover, the US refused visa to the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. But majority members of the General Assembly voted to allow him to address by a pre-recorded video. The US and Israel, repeatedly opposed proposals to stop the war.

However, the chronology of events took a big twist when US President Donald Trump met with eight Islamic countries and proposed the draft Gaza Peace Plan in the sideline of the UN High-Level debate.

When the stage was set, President Trump, along with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, proposed the 20-Point Gaza Peace Plan. Israel immediately accepted the Plan and later Hamas also accepted the Plan with some conditions. According to the Plan, Israel and Hamas had begun indirect negotiations.

On 13th October, 2025, Hamas released 20 hostages and, apparently, the war ended.
