PM Modi’s Speech on Growing Indo-UK Relations

Today, Indian Prime Minister Mr. Modi and British Prime Minister Mr. Starmer met in Mumbai. Both of them were present in a joint Press Meet. In the Press Meet, PM Modi welcome PM Starmer and the largest ever business delegation, which accompanied him.

In July, during PM Modi’s visit to UK, both the countries concluded the historic Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). The agreement will reduce import costs between the two countries, and thereby will boost trade, create new job opportunities and will bring benefits for both industries and consumers. In an another event, PM Modi said that, India and UK bilateral trade stands at about 56 billion dollars.

In his speech, PM Modi said that India and UK are Natural Partners. He said, Indo-UK relationship is built on the shared values of democracy, freedom and the rule of law.

Both the leaders also discussed several regional and global issues. India expressed its support to all efforts that contribute to end conflict in Gaza and Ukraine.

PM Modi also reaffirmed India’s commitment to enhance maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

PM Modi, in his speech, recognized immense possibility in the Indo-UK technology partnership. India and UK already launched joint Technology Security Initiative for joint research and innovation in critical and emerging technologies.

India and UK also decided to move towards defence co-production and connecting defence industries of both the countries.
